Vintage cars among half-timbered houses on 27 August 2017
More than 700 exhibitors present their craft work against the backdrop of the Old Town and the Palace.
Beetle, duck, tiger and alike – names derived from the animal world which have become synonymous in the minds of those who witnessed motorisation in the second half of the 20th century. Every two years they can be admired again in Celle.
Enthusiasts of vintage cars have teamed up in the club “IG Oldiefreunde Celle”, with the aim to preserve historical cars and to present them to the public in a gathering in Celle’s Old Town. Just as the half-timbered houses attract attention, so the vintage cars, all well preserved and in good working order, are a magnet for many people.
The first event in 2009 already attracted more than 500 exhibitors of vintage cars, and the figure of about 15,000 visitors indicated that the symbiosis of half-timbered houses and vintage cars attracted many people. The premier of "Oldtimer + Fachwerk" proved to be a success.
The idea quickly found more enthusiasts. In 2011, 2013 and 2015 more than 700 historical vehicles and motor bikes as well as commercial vehicles, tractors and fire engines could be admired. The cultural asset on four wheels fascinates many in the historical town of Celle every two years on the last Sunday in August. "Oldtimer + Fachwerk" does not charge exhibitors and visitors.
„Oldtimer + Fachwerk“ is an event organised by the Celle Tourismus und Marketing GmbH in cooperation with "IG Oldiefreunde Celle".
It takes place on 27 August 2017 from 11am - 6pm
