Celle’s Christmas Market

It’s winter time, Christmas is coming soon, the streets of old town Celle are illuminated with Christmas lights.
These twinkling lights give the half-timbered houses a particular look and plunge the entire town into a colourful and magical atmosphere. A 10-meter high Christmas tree shows the way to the Market and invites the visitors to step in. Under the tree, the manger scene with its 14 cm to 1-meter high figurines reminds us of the religious origin of this celebration.

Among the 80 wooden houses gathered at the middle of the old town of Celle, you’ll find beautiful objects made of glass, Christmas decorations, toys, candles, various articles made of wood and ceramic and many other gift ideas, or perhaps something to bring the feeling of Christmas into your home.

The pleasant smell of almond, of delicious warm wine, of savourous fresh baked patisseries among other delicacies and sweet things saturate and float through the air at the Christmas market.

For the children, the magic of the market doesn’t stop there. A carousel and further attractions allow our young visitors to play and create crafts such as mobiles. Of course, all these activities take place in a safe environment supervised by professionals. They’ll then have the joy of bringing “their creations” home.

A nearly 14-meter high Christmas pyramid shows you the biblical figures associated with Christmas.
A special program with many events related to Christmas is offered while the market takes place and contributes to making the atmosphere even more cheerful.

During the week ends you may enjoy open air concerts at the marketplace, or perhaps a choral and organ concert in the church adjacent to the market.

All these magical events invite you to stay and make your travel to another world a true wonderland.

Takes place from November 29th till Dezember 27th, 2012 - except christmas eve and christmas day (december 24th & 25th closed).
