The Winser Windmill is on the Lower Saxony Mill Route
Although today it is surrounded by houses, the windmill at Winser originally stood on a lonely dune many centuries ago, away from the original village.
The area has grown over the centuries, so that that today we no longer look at open landscapes in the distance. At that time, the wind law prevailed, which regulated that the miller did not have to have any trees or buildings near that could take the wind away from his mill.
There are few documents on record about the mill and the first mention of it only appears in the 16th century, chronicling the windmill and the traditions of the millers.
