Architecture and half-timbered buildings

Almost 500 half-timbered houses which have been extensively restored and are under preservation order, form Europe’s largest building ensemble of this kind.

The Old Town and the historical Hoppener House, one of the most splendid half-timbered houses in Celle, as well as the New Town Hall, an imposing red brick building dating from the 19th century, bear witness to the past five centuries of Celle’s colourful history.
