St. Ludwig Church

The only classicistic church in North Germany

The St. Ludwig Church was built in 1838 according to plans of the town master mason Johann Anton Spetzler from Lübeck. It is Celle's main catholic church.

It stands to the south of the Old Town by the French Garden from which a historical lime tree avenue leads to the front of the church with its two towers.

The church has the only classicistic architecture in North Germany and features a romantic Martin-ter-Haseborg-organ.
