The Aller Cycle Route

The insider's tip between the rivers Weser and Elbe!

Relax and unwind amidst meadows, pastures and pine woods!

The Aller Cycle Route is THE insider's tip No. 1 between the rivers Weser and Elbe, as it is very popular amongst cyclists. The route takes you on a total of 328 km through idyllic landscapes along the river Aller from where its joins the River Weser near Verden all the way upstream to its source near Eggenstedt, not far from Magdeburg.

Those who prefer it, can follow the Aller-Elbe Cycle Route from Seggerde which connects with the Elbe Cycle Route. Just follow the the Aller and enjoy the beautiful Aller-Leine valley, the South Heath, the Drömling, the Flechtingen Hights right up to the source of the river. The Aller Cycle Route does not openly impose on the cyclist, but rather makes you relax amidst meadows, pastures and pine woods. Small villages, old farmyards, half-timbered houses and mills line the route.

There are many opportunities for cultural detours, too: historical towns like Verden and Celle with their wealth of half-timbered houses, Gifhorn with its many mills, Wolfsburg with its Auto Town and Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, the city on the river Elbe. These and many more places give enough excuses to dismount from the saddle and take a cultural break.

The Aller Cycle Route follows the river mostly at a distance of a few hundred metres. It is divided into six varying sections, each achievable in one day, and provides for an active yet at the same time relaxing break offering both nature and culture.

A helpful aid is the guide handbook for the Aller Cycle Route which assists cyclists when planning their tour along the river and during the tour itself. The 40-page brochure in a handy horizontal A5 format fits in every handlebar bag. An up-to-date Aller Cycle Route map indicates the course of the 328-km-long route through idyllic landscapes along the Aller. This guide offers important information about the respective day sections including the sights and a list of accommodation along the route. The guide is available free of charge from
