This cycle tour takes you through a variety of landscapes within the town of Celle and its surroundings. You pass fields, meadows and forests, some with pockets of heathland. Allow yourself a rest by the idyllic ponds near Wildeck or go on a discovery tour in the Medicinal Plant Garden near the ‘Dammaschwiesen’.
From Celle’s railway station (P&R) head north across the Aller bridge towards Klein Hehlen, in the direction of the youth hostel. From the hostel keep to the ‘Weghausstraße’ proceeding northwards. You pass under the B 3, straight on to ‘Heinhof’ street until you reach Scheuen. In Scheuen turn left into the ‘Arlohstraße’ and carry on until you get to the main street. From here turn right. Using the cycle lane along the main street carry on to Altensalzkoth. By the ‚Helms’ hotel turn right and cycle along the road to Miele, then at the next fork turn right onto the cycle. At the next crossroads turn right in the direction of the Wildeck-Teiche (‘Wildeck Ponds’). You reach the ‘Försterei Wildeck’. Now keep left and follow the signposts to Rebberlah. The route now takes on a gentle ascent. The lane to Rebberlah is partially rather sandy so watch out for unevenness. Now follow the signpost to the left along a high-tension power line. On both sides a mixture of woodland and heathland are to be seen. Cycle towards Rebberlah until you reach the main road, from here turn right and immediately right again following the cycle signposts for the B 191. Please shut the game fence.
Now carry on along this route until you almost reach the B 191 in Hornshof, keeping right on a traffic-calm road along the railway line to Garßen. Cross the railway line and cycle on the ‘Stellwerksweg’ further into the village. Cycle past the Garßen Primary School and via Bostel onto Altenhagen. Using the ‘Fasanenweg’ you reach the ‘Dammaschwiesen’. Take a short break at the Medicinal Plant Garden where you can go on a ‘plant discovery tour’. Cycle along the River Aller and over the Pfennig Bridge into the Old Town of Celle. Stop here for a long break, admire the sights of this former ducal town with its charming half-timbered houses or sample the delights offered by the diverse gastronomy. Now return to the starting point at the railway station via ‘Bahnhofstraße’.
Between Wildeck and Garßen the route is in some places quite sandy and has uneven sections. Watch out for the weather conditions.
Follow the main and also specific signposts along the route.
