The Rural Work and Life of the Past, in the Lüneburg Heath
Traditional sheep breeds among the blooming heather landscape, the constant clattering of a loom, the scent of herbs and flowers in the farm garden, the crackling fire in the Kötnerhaus building ... Appealing to all the senses, the Museum Village at Hösseringen shows how the people of the Lüneburg Heath used to live and work in the past. Since 1975, we have been telling the story of the local people and their connection to this landscape. There are many exciting things to discover and fascinating information available throughout the 27 historical buildings, including several permanent exhibitions.
There is a particularly lively atmosphere on special event days and the changing special exhibitions complement the existing displays.
Ice creams, cool drinks and small snacks are an invitation to stop and rest, or there is a large playground available for those who need to let off steam. In our Museum shops, a range of souvenirs, local products from the region, plus specialist literature from folklore and regional culture, complete your visit.
